Tertiary (65 million years ago to 2 million years ago: Pliocene, Miocene, Oligocene, Eocene, Palaeocene)
Cretaceous (140 million years ago to 65 millionyears ago)
Jurassic (210 million years ago to 140 million yearsago)
Triassic (250 million years ago to 210 million years ago)
Permian (290 million years ago to 250 million years ago)
Carboniferous (360 million years ago to 290 million years ago: Pennsylvanian, Mississippian)
Devonian (410 million yeas ago to 360 million years ago)
Silurian (440 million years ago to 410 million years ago)
Ordovician (505 million years ago to 440 million years ago)
Cambrian (580 million years ago to 505 million years ago)
